I find your website to be honest, open, and interesting. As a "born again heathen" I have come to the realization that christianity is no more than a lie that someone started a very long time ago and is still circulating out of control to this day. Not only am I an exChristian, but most of the family and friends are Christians. So my world revolves around Christianity, in some form. And I can honestly say, their faith is not as strong as they want everyone to believe. Hey folks - felt compelled to respond to some of the emails this site is getting from religionists and atheist alike. While I agree with Ken 100% that no such person as Jesus ever eisted, and I also agree with most of the responders that this is an excellent site, that still doesn't prove the existence / non existence of a diety of some sort, whether that diety be a she, a he, a space alien, whatever. As a confirmed and long time agnostic, I believe that our view is the only tenable view, i.e., that the existnece of a diety is unknown and unknowable. That's not to completely rule out the possibilty, and frankly, a hard core athiest can no more prove beyond a doubt that there is no "god", than a religionist can prove that one actually exists. Likewise the xanitian, islamic, jewish god does not actually exist. Read Gordon H. Smith's book, "Atheism, The Case Against God" and Michael Martin's book, "Atheism: A Philosophical Justification". We live in a totally naturalistic universe that came about by purely natural phenomena. There is no such thing as the supernatural or spirit world. Science has proved this to be true beyond a reasonable doubt. Read Victor J Stenger's books, "Has Science Found God? The Latest Results in the Search for Purpose in the Universe", and "The Hypothesis That Failed". Smith, Martin, Stenger, and Zindler prove gods do not exist. Therefore, religion is a total waste of time. Those who believe are simply wasting their lives and resources. Excellent website. I havent gone through it all, but what ive seen so far seems researched well. I agree with pretty much everything i have read on here so far, but i think you are missing something important in your research: mythology. You can prove any religion isnt correct, and that every religion is in fact the same using mythology. I was reading your connection with buddhism. Nicely done. This is a very important issue and reflects mythology world wide. Buddhism and Christianity are similar for a very important reason, they are both mythology, just like the old and new testament, Native american mythology, greek, roman, egyptian, pagan, oriental, mayans, every religion is true one way or another. But when these facts are taken literally, then we have a mess on our hands, because it is not physical fact. I studied Christianity for months, and i found both strong views from both sides. So I stopped, because really, what does it matter? To try to prove one religion or another wrong is to miss the point of religion totally. I suggest reading anything by Joseph Campbell whether its books or dvd's, hes probably one of the smartest people ever to live on this planet when it comes to religion and mythology. I guarantee you you will find things that will back your point 100000x stronger than any physical fact you have in trying to prove Christianity wrong.
